Meadowlands Student Art Expo 2007

 

This year marks the 21st year of outstanding artworks from Hudson County High Schools. The Meadowlands Student Art Expo 2007 took place for the first time at the Harmon Cove Outlet Mall, Enterprise Avenue, Secaucus, NJ. in celebration of Hudson County Alliance of Teen Artists. It ran from April 30 to May 6. The schools represented were as follows: Bayonne High School, Create Charter School, County Prep, High Tech High School, University Academy Charter School, Jersey City Public High Schools, Harrison High School, Kearny High School, Secaucus High School, Emerson, Union City High Schools, Memorial High School of West New York, North Bergen High School, Liberty High School, Snyder High School, Dickinson High School, Ferris High School, and Jersey City Arts High. Bayonne High School was the host school this year and Visual art Instructor Christina Poruczynski co-ordinated events. Awards night was held on Thursday May 3, 2007 and the audience packed the tables at the food court on the mall’s second floor. Beautiful choral arrangements were provided by the Bayonne High’s “Sweet Harmony Choir” and the “Bee Sharps” performed, accompanied by their vocal teachers Mrs. Lydia Megale and Mr. Vasil Hrechynsky.

 

Congratulations go out to the Bayonne High School students selected for this years Judges Awards and their respective teachers at the Meadowlands Student Art Expo 2007. Awards are as follows.

 

 *A Best in Show in Computer Graphics went to Gaurav Shah. He is a student of Charlann Meluso.

 

*Judges Awards: 11-12 grade

  • In Computer Graphics: Jessica de Venuta, Nicole Rosa, Micael Preysler and Raymond Greaves.
  • In Photo- Digital: Sydney Roda. All are students of Charlann Meluso.
  • Also In Digital Photo: Amanda Meys and Edgar Ascuas.
  • In Photo-B&W: Sarah Cruz. In Photo-Color: Robyn Drag, and two for Jared Hart and Gilberto Mercado. All are students of Tom Hart.
  • In Ceramics: 9-10 grades: Paulina Zawistowski, and Nicole Alicea. Both are students of Christopher Wolfer. Also Mary Bishara in ceramics 9- 10 grades is a student of Regina Plesniarski.
  • For Ceramics 11-12 grade:  Ivan Kozah and Milan Rodak. Both are students of Ms. Terri Graham.
  • In Sculpture: Amanda Meys, a student of Tom Hart.
  • Crafts / Jewelry: Level 9-10 grade Mike Gouviea and 11-12 grade Randi Drogin and Stephanie Torres.

All are crafts and design students of June Mohovich.

  • In Graphics:  9-10 grade Melissa Bowman. She is a student of Regina Plesniarski.
  • In Graphics 11- 12 grade Kasey Balla and Suzy Omar. Both are advanced art students of Chris Poruczynski.
  • In Mixed Media / Collage` grade 9 & 10 Amanda Materowski was selected. She is a student of June Mohovich.
  • In Mixed Media 11- 12 grades Christian Ostorga work was chosen. He is a student of Chris Poruczynski.
  • Drawing B&W grades 9 & 10 Madeline Smith. Student of Regina Plesniarski.
  • In Painting Oils / Acrylics, grades 11 & 12  Kasey Balla a fine art student of Chris Poruczynski.

 

Finally, chosen to receive Bayonne High School’s Excellence Award in Art - Kasey Balla. Fine art student of Christina Poruczynski.
