Sweeney’s (Kaczka)
Irish Soda Bread
4 Tablespoons butter (melted)
2 Cups milk (slightly heated)
˝ Cup sugar
4 Cups flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons caraway seeds
˝ teaspoon salt
2 Cups raisins
5 oz sour cream
Pre-heat oven at 350o
Mix together sugar,
flour, baking powder, caraway seeds, salt and raisins.
Combine melted butter
with milk, add to dry ingredients.
Fold in sour cream. Texture
of dough should be sticky.
Butter and flour 10” x 2” iron
frying pan.
Sprinkle flour on dough. Cut cross pattern
on top.
Bake for 45 minutes or take toothpick
test.
