House 6 is situated on the northernmost point of our campus and has
the distinction of being the only house located on four floors. The
ground level houses newly renovated ceramics and art rooms, carpentry
shops as well as the Speech, Physical, & Occupational Therapy Hub.
The Project Independence Center, which is a multi-faceted life skills
program that services 30 students ages 14-21, is also situated in House
6.
The House Office is located on the first floor and managed by the dynamic
administrative assistant, Mrs. Joanne Burti. One can also come across
the House Six Nurse’s office, Child Study Team Office, S.Y.B.S.P.
(Student Center), Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium, and a modernized
biology laboratory.
The second and third floors include classrooms where portions of Bayonne
High School’s 2,500 students gain knowledge from a variety of
subjects ranging from Honors History and English to creative writing
and photography.
The District theme for the 2007-2008 school year is to “Build
a Caring, Learning Community…Everyone Counts in Our Success…to
create a ‘Spirit of Excellence’ in academics for staff
and students.” I am hopeful our students will make the most of
their time here in the neighborhood known as House Six and will positively
contribute to the Bayonne High School community as a whole.
