    Dear Vroom School Families,

I would first like to thank you all for your support during all of our Autism Awareness Activities that took place throughout the month. As a school, we have raised over $1,000 to be donated to the Bayonne Recreation Special Needs Sports Program. In addition, we also held fun activities as we celebrated Week of the Young Child in April.

As we welcome the beautiful spring weather, we welcome so many fun activities for the month of May. We are hosting our second annual Color Run on May 10 down 16th street park. Tickets are still on sale- both online and in school. We also have our special needs field day on May 13th, as well as attending the district’s track meet on May 15th. In addition to all of these fun activities, we will be hosting our First Annual Teacher Pie in the Face day on May 23rd, so make sure you come to school on the 23rd and have some fun pieing your teacher in the face!

Again, despite it being the second to last month of school, it is very important that our students continue to work hard on academics through the end of the school year. May and June have some great opportunities for learning and we want all students to take full advantage. Our students in grades 6 through 8 are taking the NJSLA State Assessments in Language Arts and Math from April 30th through May 8th. In addition, grade 5 and 8 students will also take the NJSLA Science State Assessment on May 21 & 22.

We also continue to celebrate and reward our wonderful students.  The Pre- Kindergarten celebration will take place on May 17th, while the Kindergarten celebration will take place on May 31st.  The students have worked hard to practice their songs and show you all what they have learned. In addition, our Vroom School orchestra and choir performed their Spring Concert in April and it was a huge success!  I also want to congratulate 8th grader Gianna Valdez for placing 2nd in the individual competition for our districts Fire Bowl Competition.

Lastly, I just want to offer my sincerest praise for Vroom School’s 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Alyson James!  Our 7th and 8th grade math teacher has been a valued member of our faculty and her years of dedication to our school have not gone unnoticed.  She will be honored at the Teacher of the Year dinner on May 17th!

We look forward to the last weeks of school with all of you. Please continue to keep solid routines at home as we come down the home stretch. I want to thank you for a great school year and all of the work you do to support your children and help them to succeed and grow.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Stacey Janeczkodragon
