    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Spring! March brought many exciting events to Philip G. Vroom School and we are happy to welcome April.  This month will be filled with events, activities, celebrations, and more!

Firstly, I want to remind parents that this years Spring Break will take place from April 19 through April 26. It is my hope that our students can relax and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.

The month of April also marks the beginning of the end of the year testing window.  We will begin administering the NJSLA assessment to our students beginning the week of April 8th.  The testing window will run through the end of May.  It is very important that your children be at school to participate in this testing.  Past experience has shown that students who take the assessments with their class perform at a higher level than those who take a make-up assessment at a different time.  If you need to schedule a medical appointment for your child in the next month, please check with your child’s teacher to find out what days to avoid when scheduling the appointment.

During the month of April, Vroom school will be celebrating Autism Awareness.  Many activities will be coordinated to promote autism awareness, inclusion, and self-determination for all our students.  It is our goal as a school community to foster acceptance of all students and creating an environment where everyone is comfortable to be themselves. All proceeds made from all activities will be donated to the Bayonne Recreation Special Needs Sports Program.  We are proud to give to such an important program in our community.
