A Message To Our Parents & Students...

The Bayonne School District Early Childhood Department provides high-quality, PEA-funded preschool education for all 3- and 4-year-olds across the city. Utilizing the research-based HighScope Curriculum, the program emphasizes active learning, intentional teaching, and child-centered experiences that support whole-child development. Through a mixed delivery system—including in-district classrooms, community providers, and Head Start—the department meets the diverse needs of Bayonne families while ensuring equitable access for all children.

Committed to the New Jersey Department of Education’s standards for high-quality preschool, the program features certified teachers, low child-to-adult ratios, inclusive practices, and a strong focus on family engagement. Children thrive in safe, nurturing environments that honor their individual learning styles, cultures, and abilities, preparing them for lifelong academic and personal success.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM VISION

The Early Childhood Department envisions a district in which every child enters kindergarten with the confidence, skills, and curiosity to succeed. We are committed to providing all young learners with access to equitable, high-quality, inclusive early learning opportunities that lay the foundation for academic achievement and lifelong learning. By fostering meaningful partnerships with families, educators, and community stakeholders, we strive to nurture engaged, empathetic, and capable learners who are prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. We believe that early childhood education is the key to unlocking each child’s full potential, and we are proud to be part of their journey.

Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.
