A Message To Our Parents & Students...

The Bayonne School District Science Department provides an engaging science program that prepares our students for STEM Careers. The Science Department mission is "All students will develop an appreciation for the sciences and acquire the skills necessary to be successful in STEM related careers." We are dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of the world around us and committed to ensuring that students can think like scientists and provide solutions to real world problems like engineers. The Science Curriculum is aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for the Sciences in which coursework encompasses the three disciplinary core ideas; Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science.

The emphasis is a hands on, inquiry-based approach to learning focusing on investigating scientific phenomena, developing critical thinking and problem solving skills, making connections across science disciplines, and engaging in the Science and Engineering Practices. Additionally, the Science Department believes that a strong foundation in STEM is crucial for success; therefore, committed to providing students opportunities such as participation in STEM based research competitions, integrating technology into the classroom, providing opportunities for Engineering Design Challenges and exploring career pathways in STEM Fields.

Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.
